Naomi Raiselle started GENERATIONS Cinemastories in 2004 when she took a sabbatical from her successful Newbury St Personal Growth Consulting practice.

"I spent 10 years relocating my elderly dad from Brooklyn to Brookline in order to take care of him after my mom died. After his death, I realized that I needed something new to challenge me & I wasn’t in a space to return to counseling. Serendipitously, my husband (Jack) & I filmed the first public, same sex wedding in Boston!"

With a background in literature and psychology, and her husband's in audio, soundtrack design and video, they set about to transform a cheesy, primitive industry (wedding video) into an art form that took a doc approach.

"I had never used a video camera for anything - let alone to film an historic event. However, with Jack (an experienced, professional corporate videographer) we dove in & had the privilege and honor of filming one of the most moving, historic events in my life."

It was is all about finding a story throughout the day and telling it through the eyes of those who mattered most.

"We wanted to elevate the medium to something with greater, deeper and more lasting value. This would allow generations in the future to glimpse a day in the lives of the people who came before them. We like to film from multiple perspectives, and also with an approach that mimics the embedding of photo journalists."

While watching and listening to stories unfold, particularly since their couples almost always felt their shared joy and Naomi & Jack's calming energy, they have had brides fall into their arms and sob while getting ready. They weren't sad, just stressed from being the center of attention!

"There have also been grooms who held my hand while we walked through a public crowd to release their stresses."

Naomi has helped arrange, film (and officiated) at elopements. She has had brides request a counseling session to facilitate getting the controlling Mother in law (MIL) chilled out as well.

There are a lot of things that go into your wedding day that you don't even consider and Naomi and Jack really know how to make it more then impacting but as calming and easy going as possible!

"I just came across this article and it resonated deeply. In the past dozen or so years, the gear has gotten more sophisticated (the overuse of sliders and drones); the videographers have learned film making techniques that create stunning cinematography," Naomi Raiselle
