We recently had the fabulous pleasure of connecting with the Founder of the Dream Tasting Conference, Marci Nault! Our founder, JZ is SUPER excited to be showcasing as well!

If you are looking for something to do next weekend?! Well, The Dream Tasting Conference on 4/29/17 is where it is AT!

Tell us a little bit about what the dream tasting conference is?

"The Dreams Tasting Adventure is a one-day event for women to play and taste-test the dreams they have for their lives. Where most events for women are about listening to people tell them how to achieve their dreams and people trying to sell them something, we are all about doing. At The Dreams Tasting Adventure attendees can try out activities ranging from dance, to business, to comedy, writing their novel, creating their own fashion line, podcasting, and so much more. The idea is for attendees to live their dreams in the moment. When they leave they will have the tools, resources, and confidence to delve deeper into the passions they ignited."

How did it come about and what is the concept behind it?

"Over the last four years, after my novel, THE LAKE HOUSE, was published, I’ve spoken to 1000’s of women about their dreams. Often they’d tell me that someday, when all the conditions were right, they would take that trip, learn to dance, write that novel, go back to school, start that business. The problem I found was that years later I’d see these same women again and their someday still hadn’t come. Often they were so busy taking care of everyone else that they hadn’t had time to think about their personal dreams.

The saddest was when I met women who couldn’t tell me one dream they had for themselves. I didn’t know how to change this story for women, but their stories haunted me. Then one day, while I tasted wine in the Napa Valley, I realized that you taste an ounce of wine before you buy the bottle, so what if I could give women a place to taste their dreams? This way I’d take away the someday, but I’d also get them past that initial fear that they weren’t capable. If I did this in a supportive environment women could lift each other up, hold each other’s hands, and tell each other, “I believe you’re worth having your dreams come true.”

And The Dreams Tasting Adventure was born...

What is the layout of the day?

"The Dreams Tasting Adventure is all about playing. In the first hour we’re going to do large group activities to launch everyone into the day. We’ll get everyone laughing with improv comedy, stretched out with a group yoga class with a true yogi, then salsa dancing and a dynamic performance with Rumba Y Timbal. Next the CEO of Peach will help everyone find inner confidence. Last we’re going to teach women how to connect through social media so that they have a community of support when they leave."

"At 11:00 I’ll unleash attendees into our playground where they can start their novel, learn ballroom dance, box, create their own organic cosmetics, start their businesses, go deeper into the yoga and salsa dancing, learn animation, check out how to create their own fashion, ballroom dance, create their own radio show, and so much more. The day is all about activities so they will be doing not listening."

"The day will end with a cocktail reception so that the women can connect deeper with each other and the instructors they met that day. In the grand finale, because so many women dream about traveling, with our sponsor Audley Travel we’ll be giving away a trip for two to Peru to one of our attendees."

Now Marci you have a fabulous background, tell us about you as an author and what inspired you to start this fabulous Dream Tasting Conference?

"In June of 2008, I’d gone through a six-month personal storm that had left me battered emotionally. I’d forgotten what it felt to be happy. One day, while sitting in a park, I started making a list of the times in my life when I felt joy. I realized that oftentimes my happiness came when I was making a dream come true whether traveling or trying something new. In that moment I asked the questions, “What if I wasn’t afraid? What if I didn’t think about the lack of money? Or what others thought? Where would I go? What would I want to experience? How would I live my life?”

I began to write down the dreams that had whispered to me for years but I thought were impossible: to be a competitive figure skater; to learn to salsa dance; to become a published novelist with one of the big five; to live in Florence, Italy; to dance at Carnival in Rio; to fall madly in love with life, this world and who I always wanted to become, but was afraid to be in the world.

When I finished the list I had 100 Dreams and I added one more—To laugh so hard with a stranger my sides hurt. I looked at this piece of notebook paper and thought, No way. First off, who was I to want this much? Who was I to think I could even begin to accomplish these dreams? I folded up the paper, put it in my pocket and went about my day.

That night, at the hotel I was staying at in Napa, the concierge demanded I join her and other guests for a glass of wine. The next thing I knew I was laughing so hard that I had to leave the group because my sides ached and I had to wipe the tears dripping from my eyes.

I went into the bathroom and realized that one of my dreams had come true. I looked into the mirror and thought, What if?

Now after completing 97 of my biggest dreams coming true I know that our dreams are there for a reason. They are the roadmap to life we are meant to live. It’s not one dream that we are given, but many so that we can explore all the facets of this beautiful playground called earth and life. Each of my dreams has come in an unexpected way and it’s always been bigger than I could’ve imagined. Learning to salsa dance has turned into becoming a salsa performer. Traveling the world has created an international family of friends. Writing a novel and having it published turns into creating The Dreams Tasting Adventure. My life is so much bigger than I could’ve imagined and I want every woman to feel the same about her life. I want each future generation of girls to dream bigger because of the example we’ve set.

The Dreams Tasting Adventure is my way of helping women to realize their dreams, to inspire every woman to lead a life where they stop listening to how other people tell them to live their best life and instead follow their hearts."
