We had the fabulous pleasure of connecting with singer and song writer, Betty Moon!

Who is Betty Moon?!

"Betty is a Toronto-born singer, songwriter, producer, and filmmaker. She has recorded six albums, including the 2014 release"Amourphous" which Moon produced and which features the single, “Valentine,” mixed by Grammy Award-winner Chris Lord-Alge. Moon’s music has been featured in a variety of television shows and films including Californication, Dexter, Bounty Hunters, Walking the Dead directed by Melanie Ansley, and Last Gasp starring Robert Patrick.

Today, she continues to be a regular performer at iconic venues such as The Roxy, Whisky a Go Go, and The Viper Room in Hollywood, California. Her collaboration with top music industry professionals includes Kenny Aronoff, Randy Cooke, Wes Scantlin, John Christ, Jason Sutter, Glenn Milchem, Gavin Brown and Chris Lord-Alge."

How did you fall into the world of music?

"At a very young age I knew I wanted to be an artist. I decided on music based on the freedom it presented. I wanted to be a combination of Laura Nyro and Patti Smith with Laura's vocal stylings/tone and the lyrical poetry of Patti."

What inspired your lastest song, "Sound"?

"I wanted to sing about the power and universal language of music. The song "Sound" was inspired by the experience of how music affects us all in different ways, while uniting and bringing people together".

Who is someone you admire?

"Chelsea Handler for speaking her mind and living life her way. She's like a black widow - she'll have sex with a guy then turn around and rip their head off. She lives large and I think that's amazing."

What was the first song you ever wrote?

"Before my first official band, Bambi, I was in a band (we didn't even have a name) and I wrote a song called "Mechanical Thinker". It's never been released because it never made it out of the basement."

What are some goals for you as an artist?

"It's not really about a particular goal. I want to enjoy this whole journey, the process. The complexity and simplicity that is, and always will be, good music. I'm looking forward to touring with this new album and collaborating with other artists creating interesting things."

What would you tell someone who wants to get into the same field as you?

"Stick with it, stay persistent. Also, keep your day job."
