Today we get to learn first hand from the man himself on how to make our own SEXY New Year's Mask!
Everyday is an opportunity to celebrate in style. One of my favorite things is to find a unique style as well as fun with these each of these opportunities.
A dear friend of mine recently got had a private marriage ceremony, and decide for a reception she would love a grand new years eve celebration.
I was so honored when she asked if I would design a mask with a boutique for her celebration. I had so much fun putting this together that I wanted to share some of the steps and inspiration so that you may recreate your own mask!
It all starts with the base! You need to determine what type of shape and size mask you want and thankfully google is your friend to help you with that.
For my project I found a great choice from at Michaels. My vision for this mask had a lot of sparkle and all silver. So this mask with the Silver Glitter base was the perfect starting point, as it saved a few steps of having to spray glue and glitter.
First and foremost there is no right or wrong way to put on all the embellishments. This is truly an experience to unleash your creativity. So go to your craft store and pick out different items that you would like to use as embellishments. Go into several different aisle just to see all the different types of options on this mask I pulled from the wedding aisle, the DIY jewelry aisle as well as pickup a few items by the masks.
When you are crafting like this take away the inner judgements that sometimes want to just overflow out of you and just follow your gut instincts for where you should place each piece and how much. When you are making a mask let it be an expression of your personality and be free to share in your creation so elaborate details you may sometimes not share.
One thing I learned from all my art projects with my 4 year old daughter Cielo is to just trust yourself and when you feel its done…just STOP. Cielo is amazing when she paints she is very focused yet also free flowing in her color selection and placement, but then at some point she just sits up and says its done. There have been times I asked her are you sure you are done sweetheart and she says yes Daddy it is perfect just like this. And so it is for all of us. When you feel you are done, don’t analyze your project to figure out where you could place another flower or crystal just stop.
Finally most importantly wear your mask with grace, confidence, pride and style knowing this is a unique creation that you made! Oh and also send me pictures on Facebook of your creations!!!
